Grinding down a leftover stump so the area can be levelled, replanted, or built over.
A stump left behind gets in the way of mowing, landscaping, and anything you want to build. Grinding turns it into material that can be backfilled or removed, depending on what you agree.

Questions people ask
How deep is the stump ground down?
Grinding depth is agreed in your scope, because it depends on the root flare, soil, and what you plan to do with the space afterwards. Planting a new tree needs more depth than laying sod.
What happens to the grindings?
The default is to backfill the hole with the grindings and level the area. Full removal of the material and topsoil replacement can be quoted, but it is only included when the scope says so.
Can you grind a stump from a tree someone else removed?
Yes. Stump grinding can be requested on its own — we do not need to have removed the tree.
Do you check for utilities first?
Yes. Underground utility locating is arranged before grinding where it is required, and that step can affect scheduling.
